Small but mighty!
A graphic icon is an image or symbol representing an idea, object, app, feeling…. It is a simplified, informational graphic communicated in a (widely) recognizable way.
Icons make skimming the page or screen easy on the eyes and brain—making the viewer not have to work to understand. Icons highlight and emphasize visually the accompanying text, making the page/screen a quick “read” for viewers who are scanning quickly for info.
