We are the “Creative Types”

Creative what?

“Creative Type.” We hear that phrase all the time, but what does that really mean? For a team like Media Solutions, it’s imperative to think about how we interact and communicate as a group. For us, knowing and understanding each other’s personalities leads to successful creative collaboration and the open sharing of ideas. By discovering what drives us, we can tap into our motivations, our “why”—why we do what we do—assess how we think, and understand where our passions lie.

Wait. There’s a test?!

Yes. A test. A very quick, 15-question and purposefully abstract test based in psychology research and developed by the folks at Adobe Create will lead to an outcome of one of these eight Creative Types: The Artist, The Thinker, The Adventurer, The Maker, The Producer, The Dreamer, The Innovator, and The Visionary.

So what are the results?

In a group of seven, it’s interesting to note that we have four Thinkers! We all have chosen to work in at the School of Medicine and Public Health—the bedrock of which is science and fact-based evidence—so maybe it’s not surprising that a few of us are Thinkers. Addionally, it’s important to note that these personality types aren’t black-and-white labels, but merely an exploration of the many faces of the creative personality. And honestly, given the nature of our work and overlapping skills, each of us could be categorized into multiple categories depending on the project we are working on.

Katie: The Thinker

For the Thinker, the examined life is truly the only one worth living. Ever the perpetual student, and our medical illustrator, Katie sees the world as an endless opportunity for learning, discovery, and truth-seeking.

John: The Thinker

Few things satisfy John’s inquisitive mind more than a well-formulated question or a creative solution to a problem. Studying topics that fascinate John are very important to this patient golf-lover.

Pathum: The Thinker

One of Pathum’s greatest gifts is his sense of wonder and depth of perception. He can see the big picture clearly in a way that few others can. His intellectual curiosity defines his Thinker personality and plays a great role in his videography work.

Sarah: The Adventurer

There’s no telling where the impassioned creative quest and endless curiosity of the Adventurer may lead. Fueled by high energy levels and boundless enthusiasm, Sarah is easily inspired—and more than willing to follow her fascinations…whatever path they take.

Sue: The Artist

This result could not be more accurate. As an Artist, Sue needs to create in order to feel truly alive. Full of ideas and visions, she’s driven by the desire to express herself and transform the world around her.

Todd: The Thinker

sub-type: Model Train Geek

Driven by an insatiable intellectual curiosity and degrees in Biology and Chemistry, the Todd makes the quest for knowledge and truth a lifelong pursuit. His love for photography and trains are passion-projects for this Thinker.

Vickie: The Dreamer

The world is a place of beauty and magic in the eyes of a Dreamer. Where others see facts and figures, Vickie see symbols, metaphors, and hidden meanings. Very helpful traits for our billing manager!

Everyone has a creative type.
